Marker Text: County seat, Potter County; founded in 1887. Incorporated 1892. Named for Arroyo Amarillo, Spanish name of nearby creek. Transportation, financial, cultural, and medical center. There were once at least 10 of these Amarillo markers, all around Amarillo. This was the only one we found. The reason I have not allocated a marker number is because it was not at any of the locations indicated by the Texas Historic Commission as having one these markers, it was actually at a Taco Garcia. So I have no idea which of the 10 possible markers it might be. 🤔
