Colorado County is named for the Colorado River. The county seat is Columbus. We did the marjority of our exploring in this county in 2008 usually when driving home from Houston. Apart from a couple of markers on private property and couple that were missing we have been very successful in this county. I remember Columbus to be a pretty county town with some very beautiful old homes like the Simpson-Williamson home displayed on this page. Colorado County has been busy and has added several new markers so it is time for a return visit. The only marker I can't confirm being in place is Mike Muckleroy, I don't remember if we have looked for this one before but the google car does not go down Elroy Lane and there are no photos of it that I could locate, which is unusual in itself. I like this area of Texas it always seems so green and when the wild flowers are blossoming it is so pretty.
