TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Dimmit County Historical Markers

NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 19
Have - 11 Need - 8
Picture
Dimmit County is named for Philip Dimmit, a key player in the Texas Revolution. The county seat and location of most of the markers is Carrizo Springs.
This part of Texas was new to me until this trip and it felt to me very much like being in the wild west. For the first part of  the trip to Dimmit County, capturing the markers went pretty smoothly, the markers were in or around town. Now we come to the hard maybe impossible part. Kings Highway markers that are on large old established ranches, in other words private property. Some of the King's highway markers are in the middle of the properties which would require permission, correct clothing, a vehicle able to tolerate the terrain and lastly probably a guide. So if all the stars aligned and the Kings Highway markers do exist then it is possible. I am yet to confirm that is the case for Valenzuela Ranch Headquarters.

15th July, 2019 - Nothing new and all the above problems still apply
