Marker Text: This building erected by the masons in 1852 the female department of the masonic institute. Was the first girls school building in Palestine and was taught by Mrs. J. V. E. Covey. Here John Graham Cooch in January 1853 organized the first Sunday school and started the first free circulating library with books from his private collection. (1928)
Marker No: ????
Pink Granite with Brass Plague
Geographic:
Location: Perry Street
We are unsure if this is considered an official Texas Historic Marker, it is certainly not listed in the Texas Historical Atlas but it was erected in 1926 so it may be a pre Historical Commission marker. It feels real to me so I added it.
