TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Gray County Historical Markers

NUMBER OF  MARKERS IN COUNTY-25
Have - 24  Need- 1

February 14th, 2020 - Still just one marker missing from this set
Gray is located in the central part of the Panhandle and the eastern edge of the High Plains. County Seat of Gray county is Pampa and it is also where the majority of the markers in this county are located. It is names for Peter W. Gray a Confederate soldier and lawyer in the Civil War.
We photographed all the markers except George B. McClellan and here is the kicker we looked for this marker and it was apparently there, for me this is the most annoying part of our hobby. Markers are stolen, damaged and often are not in the location given by the Texas Historical Commission. So on the road in unfamiliar territory, you are not sure if the marker is missing and you are looking for something that doesn't actually exist or it's in  another location. This is even more difficult the further away from home you get, like Austin to the Panhandle.
