TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Hall County Historical Markers

NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY- 18
Have- 6  Need-12
Memphis is the county seat of Hall County. Hall County is named for Warren D. C. Hall, a secretary of war for the Republic of Texas.
It is a small county in terms of markers, most being in or near the towns of Memphis and Turkey.  We did not try too hard to find the Shoe Bar Ranch headquarters knowing it was most likely on private property and we were going have to make a decision pretty soon about whether we were staying out on the road another night or just pulling the plug and driving home. Hall County has added  four new ones since we were last there, which is impressive because these markers are not cheap and require much research, which is often challenging for smaller counties.

25th March, 2020 -  On review, the most challenging marker in this county will be Shoe Bar Ranch Headquarters, as even the Texas historical commission could not locate it. I have also been unable to confirm that Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery marker is up.
