Marker Text: ​This House Was Built in  1838 as a residence for Colonel John H. Moore and his wife Eliza Cummins Moore. Colonel Moore a noted Indian fighter commanded the Texans at Gonzales, October 2, 1835 when the first shot of the Texas Revolution was fired. (1936)
Location: Oak Meadows Ranch - from La Grange, take Highway 77 1 mile to FM 2145. About 6 miles northwest, marker is at ranch headquarters.
