Oldham County
NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 12
Have - 10 Need - 2
Named for Williamson Simpson Oldham, Sr. a Confederate senator and early settler. County seat is Vega.
Many of the few markers that this county has are in and around Tascosa which was the original county seat. If you ever get a chance to visit the Boot Hill Cemetery is a really interesting old resting place for many early pioneers. As far as markers go the Tascosa Schoolhouse was listed by the Texas Historic Commission for many years as having a marker and that is why in it included here, but as a ramp was put in and the building altered somewhat prior to application being granted it was never actually approved for a historical marker, it is still a neat old building. We need to visit the LS Alamosa Ranch Headquarters to complete our set. It is of course on private property but I believe I have a good contact and maybe able to access on our next trip.
