Sherman County is named for Sidney Sherman who fought in the Texas Revolution. The county seat is Stratford.
Sherman County is a small county as far as markers are concerned, but being as its very close to Oklahoma it is busy with lots of trucks travelling though almost continuously.
We did not look for the county line markers on this trip through I was able to confirm at least one of them is there. We spend a lot of frustrating time looking for the county marker only to find it was much further out of town then the 2 miles the historical commission reported it to be 😖 but we were on the right road, so that was something. The historical atlas has added a new marker for Sidney Sherman but is was not there in April 2018. The marker for County named for Sidney Sherman, C.S. A. is missing clearly torn off the cement plaque where is once resided.
