TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Zavala County Historical Markers

NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 7
Have - 7 Need - 0
Zavala County is named for Lorenzo de Zavala, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and first vice president of the Republic of Texas.  The county seat is Crystal City.
The area of Texas felt a little like the wild west to me, it also felt like an area that is struggling to survive. The markers were all there. The only one that really gave us any difficulty was Kincaid Ranch and Hotel. I saw a picture of it so I knew it existed during review,  but the picture did not give a location. The marker is not in the town of Batesville and the Texas Historical app on my phone was not giving the correct location. I had a vague idea where it maybe but it was really just pure luck that we turned a corner and stumbled across it finishing the set 🎉.
