Marker Text: Alexander Methodist Church was organized in an old log school house in 1854 under Rev. Robert Alexander, circuit rider.
In 1856 Elizabeth Boatwright and John Singleton deeded the present grounds to James Walker, William Lawrence, William L. Glass, Harvey Mitchell and John B. Wallace as trustees. Officially founding the oldest church in Brazos County. The first church was constructed of hand-hewn logs be George Fullerton, Hugh Henry, Jim and John Walker, E.W. Thompson and others. A second church was erected in 1908. the present building was erected in 1939 and the educational building was added in 1957. (1968) Marker No: 17455
