Texas Counties
My husband Steve, and I have a rather large hobby. Taking pictures of Texas historical markers and their associated sites. We enjoy the travel and all the little towns that we may not have otherwise visited. Someone asked me the other day what the goal was , were we trying to take pictures of them all? and I thought about it and yes I guess that is the goal (all be it a long term nearly impossible goal. At the time of writing there are over 18,000 Texas historical markers and we have between 8000 and 9000 thousand.
We are very interested in documenting as many as possible and I have a particular interest in those on private property,
If you have any information about any that are on private property or that are missing , we'd be really happy to hear from you.
This website is a work in progress and I think it always will be, I have many photos still to download and much still to do.

2023 - I'm trying to do something a little different this year in order to upload all the photos that I still need to place in the website. So eating the elephant one bite at a time. I'm going to upload five markers every day. i worked it out it still won't catch us up completely but it will be closer and I'll feel better.
2024- This year has been a whirlwind. I started a new job at the end of 2023, we moved and bought a new home in Georgetown, and all in all had a lot less time. I do have many more pics to add and need a process to achieve this includes organizing and updating the site in general. I'm also slowly but surely editing my work for typos and errors and working on odd photos showing up where they have no business being which Initially I thought I’d made these errors but now I don’t think so.
2025- So, 2025 is still in progress, and I’m still ironing out those pesky errors and typos. I haven’t quite finished adding the all the county lists at the end of the alphabet yet, but I’m aiming to get them done before the year wraps up. This year, I’ve been working as an Interim travel director, and my first assignment was in San Antonio. (Steve usually comes and stays with me, depending on what’s going on at home.) I was a bit nervous about visiting markers on my own while in San Antonio, and driving there was also a bit of a challenge. We did add a few to the San Antonio set, but not as many as I’d hoped. Now, in Kingwood, I’m trying to do more. Steve likes to focus on the surrounding rural counties and doesn’t like driving in Houston, so I’m venturing out on small daily trips by myself, and I’m happy with whatever I capture. The second part of this is that every second weekend I stay with, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law in Texas City, and I’m making some progress in Galveston County. My sister-in-law, Lora, has been helping out, and she says she’s enjoying it!
