Fisher County Historical Markers
NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 18
Have - 17 Need - 1
Named for Samuel Rhoads Fisher signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. County seat is Roby.
Fisher County is typical of many rural Texas counties, it looks like it is struggling to stay alive. The bigger towns in this county, have many closed stores and it's unsurprising that there are not a lot of new historical markers. This is also one of the few remaining completely dry counties in Texas. Saying that all the old markers still arandind, which is a triumph in it self. The thing I most remember about this county is the Old Rock House, so often it is difficult to access these properties because they sit back on private land, but this one had a sign pointing to it and looked welcoming. I love that it is still standing such a neat old building. We have one marker still to capture in this county, it is newer so should not pose a problem. |
7th Decemeber, 2019 -One missing from the set, it's attainable. No new markers.
