TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Hansford County

NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 16
Have - 14 Need - 2
Picture
Hansford County is named for John M. Hansford, a state congressman and judge of Texas.  The county seat is Spearman.
Hansford has lots of farmland, also gentle hills and prairies. The town of Spearman was actually big enough to allow me to buy a Christmas ornament, which in these Panhandle counties is not always a given. This is the first time we saw one of the brown highway signs that indicate a marker is coming up, actually standing next to the markers.
The Spearman Hotel fell into disrepair and the hotel was razed by the volunteer fire department, the marker had already been removed, possibly by the owner. We didn't make it to the Texas State Line and I couldn't confirm the marker is there.

30th March, 2019 - On review Gruver Cemetery is new to us. I still have not confirmed the presence of the Texas State Line marker.
