NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY- 41

Jack County is named after two brothers who fought in the Texas Revolution: Patrick Churchill and William Houston Jack. The county seat is Jacksboro.
Jack County is a rural area. Fort Richardson is just outside Jacksboro and worth a visit. The marker for the Officers Quarters was removed for painting, and the staff isn’t sure if it will be replaced.
We still have some parts of the county to explore, and I have a few questions about the Old Opera House and the James W. Know House, which might no longer exist.
The Knox house was burnt to the ground.
Part of the Opera house still exists as part of a restaurant but most of it also burnt down. Special thanks to Mr. Davenport for sharing the above information.
