Marker Text: Captain James Gillaspie's Company First Regiment, Texas Mounted Volunteers Colonel J. C. Hayes commander called into service of the United States April 25, 1847, in the war with Mexico. 
  Captain James Gillaspie's Company, fifth regiment, Texas infantry volunteers, Colonel E. B. Nichols commander, called into service of the Confederate States of America October 29, 1861. 
  Captain James Gillaspie's Company, first regiment Texas Mounted volunteers Colonel J. C. Hayes Commander called into service of the United States by Governor J. Pinckney Henderson June 9, 1846 in the war with Mexico.
