Marker Text: Julius Edward Junker (1891 - 1972) contributed significantly to the civic and agricultural development of Rosenberg and Fort Bend County. He was founder of the First National Bank of Rosenberg in 1925 and served as county chairman of "New Deal" federal agricultural programs during the Great Depression. He was instrumental in the formation of the Fort Bend County Fair (1933), the coastal plains soil conservation district (1943), the Fort Bend broadcasting company and KFRD radio station (1948), and the Fort Bend County drainage district (1949). He was chairman of the Fort Bend County school board (1929-1935) and was a breeder of registered hereford cattle. He married Norma Bertha Meyer (1891- 1986) in 1915. (2009)
