Marker Text: In 1915 Fredericksburg's St. Mary's parish called the Rev. Sabastian Galarza, a Mexican refugee, to help establish a mission for the area's growing Hispanic population. This gothic revival structure was completed in 1917 and dedicated as Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. The mission church served 300 families by 1920. The building features a gabled entry portico and pointed arch windows. Our Lady of Guadalupe mission closed in 1966, but reopened in the 1980's due to the renewed interest of many parishioners. The church continues to serve the area's hispanic community. (1995)
