TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Parker County Historical Markers

NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 116
Have - 10          Need- 106
Picture
Parker County was named for Isaac Parker who was a state legislator. The County seat is Weatherford.
We slipped into Parker County by accident as the focus of this trip was Palo Pinto and Jack counties so we have only captured a handful of the markers in this county. Whilst reviewing this county I discovered the Parker County Historical Commission has been very busy and has dedicated many new markers. This county will provide some challenges, there are several markers on private property including some gray granite centennials and some family cemeteries. As always I am left with some questions. I'm not sure what happened to Sunshine Special's Erlmere since Pate Transportation Musuem closed down, so I'll write to Parker County Historical Commission to see if they can enlighted me.
To even try and capture all the markers in this county would a least be a four day trip and a lot of driving.
