Rockwall County is named for an underground rock formation that exists throughout the county. The County seat is Rockwall. It is geographically the smallest county in Texas. While being quite close to Dallas it felt like weekend gettaway destination to me due to it being situationed on Lake Ray Hubbard for one.
We went there when we were going to see the Dobie Brothers in Dallas, and it was also a time of a lot of changes in my career. It was a much-needed break from thinking about what the future holds.    Almost all the markers were there and easy to reach. The only one that wasn’t was the medallion and plate for Royse City Methodist Church. It had been struck by lightning and burned down early in 2024. But there are three new markers that are all set up, and we didn’t get to see them on our trip.
