Marker Text: ​Built about 1836 for Sarah Jenkins, who lost first husband in Indians scalping and second killed at the Alamo.
​     Home to veterans of San Jacinto, Meir expedition, Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish-American War and a Bastrop County sheriff, housed early normal school, part of military academy.  (1964)
