Blanco County Historical Markers
NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 37
Have - 32 Need -5
Named for the Blanco River. The county seat is Johnson City.
Small is in terms of markers, but very pretty to drive in. I love the small town of Blanco it has such a nice feel to it. The Peyton Colony Lime Kiln marker has been stolen at least a couple of times and was not there when we visited. Goeth Ranch House, John Walton Harrington and John and Eliza Bird Residence are all on private though we have not given up on getting to the yet. I have written Blanco County Historical Commission about Gideon Thorp's Arraste because I can find no information to suggest it was placed. Special thanks Linda Howard Chair of Blanco County Historical Commission for answer my queries and telling us about the May Morgan Building which is marker we didn't have on our list. The Peyton County Lime Kiln marker will not be replaced until issue of the land ownership where the Lime Kiln sits is resolved. |
