TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Concho County Historical Markers

NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 16
Have - 12 Need - 4
Concho County is named for the Concho River. The county seat is Paint Rock. This. county is located on the Edwards Plateau, about as central Texas as you can get,
On our first trip through Concho County we stopped in Eden, that was part of a much bigger trip as we made our way to Colorado for our niece's wedding. The second time we were coming home from a mostly San Angelo trip and stopped in Paint Rock. We have four markers left to capture all with varying degrees of difficulty. We are both looking forward to seeing the largest Pictograph Site, the owners were away when we were there last. That is something that deserves some time and attention, it is not just  snap the marker and back on the road situation. The Rich Coffey House and Silver Cliff Ranch are both on private property and while I would love to capture them both I'm particularly interested in the Coffey House because of the idea of building in such isolation is both appealing, intriguing and a little eerie. We looked for the Site of the Mission San Clemente marker but the road was closed and we were not quite sure it was the correct road anyway.

30th June, 2019 - I have nothing new to talk about in this  review of Concho County. I'd love to talk to anyone who lives in this area regarding the Coffey House and Silver Cliff Ranch even if just  to know if the markers are actually still in place.
