TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Lipscomb County Historical Markers

NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY- 24
Have-  20       Need-  4
Lipscomb County is in the furthest northeast corner of the Panhandle of Texas. The county seat is Lipscomb . The county is named for Judge Abner Smith Lipscomb a secretary of state for the Republic of Texas. We drove through this county at the end of the day and we were chasing the light and a storm. In east Texas when it storms it feels like the forest is closing in around you but in the Panhandle it feels to me like you are exposed and that the storm is after you. Steve wanted to knock out this county and we did ending the day capturing 6 cemeteries. The Lipscomb School is the only one we are missing and am yet to confirm its placement.
