Jones County
NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY - 31
Have - 27 Need - 4
Named for Anson Jones 5th president of the Republic of Texas. County seat is Anson.
We drove through Jones County on the way to and from Colorado so the memories of this county are truthfully a blur. I remember looking for the Swenson Ranch Commissary with no success but I think it is not at the 200 south Swenson Street location that the Texas Historical Commission atlas gives. I also have recollection of reaching the Avoca Methodist Church but not finding the medallion & plate. I have written to the Jones Historical Commission so hopefully they will bring some clarity. |
