TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKERS

Falls County Historical Markers

NUMBER OF MARKERS IN COUNTY- 79
Have -60  Need- 19

Falls County is named for a 10 foot tall waterfall that no longer exists, as the river changed course. The county seat is Marlin. For us Falls county is a county we have been in and out usually while staying in another county as part of a bigger trip. So I don't really have any stories or have even eaten in any of the area  restaurants. Our last visit was a bit of a wash, literally, it was  raining and the dirt roads were not favorable to a Toyota Camry.
Most of the markers in this county are regarding the churches and cemeteries that give the history of the settlers in this region. They are spread among the many small towns that exist in Falls County. The challenges are that there are many markers on private property. I believe there is only one marker missing and I say believe because I'm not 100% sure, the Falls Health Spa, the building burnt down, sometimes these markers are saved but I'm not sure this one was.
